2-23-21 THOUGHTS

Often as I begin a prayer and seek to lift up our God, I find myself frustrated that I cannot find right words.  They aren’t sufficient, they aren’t enough. Then it dawns on me how little I really understand about my God who is omni-everything.  He is all present, all wise, all knowing, all powerful and the list goes on.  I don’t understand all of that?  I can’t!
At the Lord’s table Sunday morning, my brother read  Ps 147:4-5  He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them. 5  Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite.

Job 11:7-9    "Can you discover the depths of God? Can you discover the limits of the Almighty? 8  "They are high as the heavens, what can you do? Deeper than Sheol, what can you know? 9  "Its measure is longer than the earth And broader than the sea.
Ps 139:6   [Such] knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is [too] high, I cannot attain to it.
Ps 40:5   Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which You have done, And Your thoughts toward us; There is none to compare with You. If I would declare and speak of them, They would be too numerous to count.
Isa 25:1   O LORD, You are my God; I will exalt You, I will give thanks to Your name; For You have worked wonders, Plans [formed] long ago, with perfect faithfulness.
Rom 11:33-36    Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! 34  For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, OR WHO BECAME HIS COUNSELOR? 35  Or WHO HAS FIRST GIVEN TO HIM THAT IT MIGHT BE PAID BACK TO HIM AGAIN? 36  For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.
Matt 10:29-31    "Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30  "But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31  "So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.
Ps 8:1    O LORD, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth, Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens!
Our family used to love to sing the song  “O LORD, OUR LORD”!  I can hear it now in the back of my mind. “We will praise thy name for ever more, how excellent thy glorious name!”
Praise God with your all, and take comfort that HE is in control of all things.

My Prayer:
Oh God of all creation, help us as we seek to lift up your name.  We are weak and sinful, make us holy that we may sing your praises.  How wonderful that it is You that controls all things.  You have shown perfect faithfulness throughout all time.  We rest in your majesty.
In the precious name of our Lord         Amen
